5 Ways to Love Yourself

February is known as the month of love. Did you know that it is also International Boost Self-Esteem month? And, just before Valentine’s day, February 13 is the International Day of Self-Love.

Well, I’ve just learned about all that recently. I got inspired to update and re-share this post. These are some of the lessons I’ve learned through the years and I hope this could also help you on your self-love journey. Sharing with you 5 Ways to Love Yourself.

1. Forgive Yourself

I’ve made so many mistakes in my life. If I just keep on looking back and beating myself up over the things I “should” have said or I “should” have done, I won’t be able to move on.

We can’t turn back time. We can’t undo the past.. but we can find ways NOW to create a better future. And, it starts by forgiving oneself.

2. Know and Accept Yourself Unconditionally

I know it’s easier said than done. Yet, it is essential to know the things that you can do well, to reflect on the areas that you need to work on, and to love yourself anyway despite the imperfections.

3. Develop Yourself

There should be a balance between self-acceptance and self-improvement. Now that we have a deeper knowledge of ourselves, it’s time to open new doors, grow, and reach our full potential.

4. Show Yourself Gratitude

Don’t forget to thank yourself. Life can be tough. But, you have survived everything you have been through so far. You did your best to keep going. And, you became STRONG, RESILIENT, and BEAUTIFUL!

Yes… that’s YOU!

Breathe… pat yourself on the back… and say Thank You!

One day you will thank yourself for not giving up.

5. Treat Yourself

Of course, you can do more than just giving yourself a pat on the back. You can treat yourself to a fun weekend getaway, a mani-pedi, a new outfit, or a nice restaurant.

There are also a lot of totally free ways to treat yourself – listening to your favorite music, walking in the park, or watching the sunset. Be creative and find ways to nourish your mind, body, and soul.

  2. I love all of these ways to love yourself even more! YES on forgiveness – another thing is that you can forgive but that doesn’t mean to have to necessarily associate yourself with that anymore. You can have peace of mind. It is so important to show some gratitude. There are times when things can be worse. I am all about treating yourself! Thanks for sharing the positive vibes!

    • Hi Natalia! I totally understand how hard it is to practice gratefulness and self-love. I have a tendency to beat myself up for things I’ve said and done. It took some time before I learned how to be kinder to myself.

I really appreciate the comment and super thanks for following my blog:)

    • The struggle is real!

Self-forgiveness can be difficult, I think I’ve spent so much time and energy replaying all my past mistakes. Letting go takes a lot of hard work, but it’s worth it!

    • I think self-love is a journey. You’ll go through bumps along the way that will make you doubt your self-worth. But, you just keep going knowing that you are worthy to live, to love, and to take up space. I’m still trying to practice self-gratitude everyday too.
