NY Minute: Bronx Zoo (Part 1)

Discover your wild side!

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share with you the highlights of our trip to Bronx Zoo. The 265 acres hardwood forest is the largest urban zoo in the US. It is home to over 6,000 animals, representing more than 700 species from around the globe.

It is difficult to explore the zoo in one day, so we only planned to check out the Congo Gorilla Forest and the Wild Asia Monorail.

… and be mesmerized by these adorable Wolf Monkeys!

Have you seen an Okapi? It was my first time to see this beautiful creature, also known as “forest giraffe” or “zebra giraffe.” It is revered as a national symbol of the Congo.

Finally, I was so thrilled to meet the stars of the exhibit – the amazing Western Lowland Gorillas! There were several gorillas lounging and playing, but this babe really stole my heart.

The Congo Gorilla Forest is definitely a must-see exhibit at the Bronx Zoo. It was designed to raise awareness of the challenges of these endangered animals. Come visit and take part in the Wildlife Conservation Society’s efforts in Africa.
