I ❤️ NY: Top 5 Must-See Attractions in Niagara Falls State Park

Have you ever dreamed of seeing Niagara Falls up close?

My husband and I recently visited and were amazed upon arrival. Our trip was filled with unforgettable experiences, and I’m excited to share them as we explore the top five must-see attractions in Niagara Falls State Park!

1. Maid of the Mist

The Maid of the Mist tour takes you straight to the heart of Niagara Falls. We were so excited about the tour, so I bought our tickets online early on. When we arrived at the park, we eagerly exchanged our tickets for boarding passes, wore the dark blue ponchos, and joined the other passengers on the boat.

As we approached the falls, mist enveloped us, making the boat ride even more thrilling. Seeing the three falls (American, Bridal Veil, and Horseshoe) up close was absolutely breathtaking!

2. Cave of the Winds

Next on our list was Cave of the Winds. We got our tickets from the Visitor Center, but you can also purchase the tickets from the Cave of the Winds Plaza on Goat Island.

We first made our way down into the Niagara Gorge, then walked along the wooden walkways to the Hurricane Deck, where we felt the full force of Bridal Veil Falls.

Despite donning the yellow ponchos, we still got soaked by the mist and water. Yet, witnessing the falls from such an exhilarating perspective made it so worth it.

3. Terrapin Point

Nestled on the edge of Goat Island, Terrapin Point offers remarkable views of the Horseshoe Falls. It’s a great spot to enjoy the beauty of the falls and capture some stunning photographs.

Moreover, Terrapin Point provides another unforgettable sensory experience. Feeling the cool mist on our skin and hearing the rush of water cascading into the falls, it was impossible not to be amazed by the sheer size and grandeur of Horseshoe Falls.

4. Observation Tower

Don’t forget to stop by the Observation Tower – it’s a giant lookout offering a panoramic view of Niagara Falls and its surroundings. From up high, we could see everything clearly, making it the perfect spot to admire the falls from a bird’s-eye view.

Standing there, we felt like we were on top of the world, surrounded by the awe-inspiring sight of the falls and the picturesque landscape stretching out in every direction.

5. Night Illumination of Niagara Falls:

Experience the falls in a whole new light – literally! Each evening, Niagara Falls is illuminated with colorful lights, creating a mesmerizing display against the night sky.

We went to Prospect Point after dinner, and despite the large crowd, we managed to find a spot to witness this beautiful spectacle. It felt like stepping into a magical realm as the bright lights danced on the falls, creating a moment we’ll always remember.

As you’ve seen, Niagara Falls State Park is brimming with incredible sights and experiences. So, which of these attractions are you most excited to do during your trip? Let us know in the comments below.

    • I stopped by the Canada side years ago, but wasn’t able to do any of the fall attractions. We decided to try the NY side this time and we really enjoyed getting so close to the falls. Hope you’ll have the chance to experience it someday too.

  1. I’ve never been to the Niagara Falls, in part because I don’t live in North America, and I’ve only been to America once in my life. If I ever do go back, I’ll certainly check out the Niagara Falls after reading your post
