5 Everyday Joys I’m Grateful For

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything. Life has been changing so fast lately, and I just haven’t had the time to sit down and put my thoughts together.

But with Thanksgiving coming up, something about today made me pause. Maybe it’s the season, or maybe I finally had a quiet moment to breathe, and I suddenly felt inspired again.

So I figured I’d come back with something simple. Nothing big or dramatic, just a few everyday joys I’m really grateful for right now.

1. My Family — My Husband and Our New Baby

After trying for so many years and going through several pregnancy losses, we finally welcomed our little one last September. Watching her hit all her firsts and milestones has been such a joy. She has brought so much happiness into our lives, and honestly, I couldn’t ask for more.

2. Friends Who Feel Like Home

I am so grateful for my friends who’ve been there through my challenging pregnancy and postpartum journey. Their love and support have meant the world to me. From shower parties and meal trains to brunch dates and mom advice, they’ve shown up in so many ways, and I feel incredibly lucky to have them in my life.

3. Knowing We Can Get Care When We Need It

My pregnancy had its challenges with a few complications, and I’m so grateful for the amazing healthcare team that took such good care of me. Now that we have our little one, staying healthy is a top priority, and knowing we have access to medical care when we need it gives me so much peace of mind.

4. A Little Me Time to Recharge

Before I gave birth, my friends kept asking if I was ready for the sleepless nights… and wow, they weren’t kidding! The first couple of months were tough, but now that she’s sleeping a little longer and I’m getting more rest too, I’m not a zombie in the mornings anymore. I’ve started making time for myself again — going to the gym, getting a mani-pedi, shopping a bit, or treating myself to my favorite cake. It feels so good to recharge, even in small ways.

5. A Good, Uplifting Movie When I Need a Boost

Last night, I watched the new Alicia Silverstone movie A Merry Little Ex-Mas. And no, this isn’t a deep, thought-provoking, life-changing movie, but it’s one of those feel-good holiday films that just warms your heart. It’s about two friendly exes spending Christmas together as a family. I won’t spoil the ending, but if you’re into light, holiday-themed movies, it’s worth checking out on Netflix.

And, just to pique your interest a little more, I’ll end this post with a quote from the movie:

“This is not the future that I expected. But I am 100% sure this is the one that I want.” – Kate (A Merry Little Ex-Mas)

Sometimes things don’t go the way we thought they would. But if we stop dwelling on the past and start noticing the blessings we have right now, we can enjoy the present more and find real contentment in our lives.

What are some of the things you are thankful for? Share in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you so much for reading. Wishing you a blessed and joyful holiday season!

  1. Knowing there’s help out there when we need it makes a huge difference, whether for health or mental health support. Even having friends and family you know will always be there to listen can be a great feeling

  2. This is such a lovely post Fritzie, a really enjoyable read. I’m so glad your beautiful baby is sleeping better now and that you’re managing to find time to enjoy little things for yourself too, as well as being a mummy.

  3. A really nice post!! There are many everyday things and people that one can be grateful for and with thinking about the future and ruminating or reminiscing about the past we forget that the present has important things and people that we are blessed by and should be grateful for. Thanks for the reminder.
