First, I have to admit that I’m obsessed with skincare. It all started in 2020 when I joined the Korean skincare bandwagon. I’ve discovered a whole new world of amazing products that made me enjoy my skincare journey more.
This year, I’ve decided to try not only K-beauty but also some of the most hyped and best-selling skincare products on the market. Amongst a ton of newfound favorites, I’ve narrowed down my list to these five products that really “wowed” me this 2021.

1. CLEANSER
HEIMISH All Clean Green Foam Cleanser
A K-beauty favorite. This gel-type cleanser lathers really well. It has a low ph of 5.5 which makes it an ideal gentle everyday cleanser that won’t dry out your skin.
It is formulated with hydrating glycerin and soothing Centella Asiatica. I’m really enjoying this cleanser because it feels so nice on the skin. It makes me look forward to cleansing my skin every morning and evening.
2. SERUM
The gold standard of topical Vitamin C serum. Clinically proven to deliver visible results. Patented formula. Dermatologist recommended. Loved by celebrities, beauty editors, and skincare experts.
The only reason why I hesitated to buy this product was the steep price of $166. I waited until there was a 15% off promo before I took the plunge.
Is it worth it?
I’ve been applying 5-6 drops of this serum to my face and neck everyday. A little goes a long way so the 30ml bottle could last for 3 months. The serum has lightened my lingering dark spots and my complexion looks a lot more radiant. Though this serum impressed me, I still don’t think that it’s worth the full price tag.
Am I going to repurchase?
I’m thinking of trying other less expensive dupes of this product. But, if this serum goes on sale, then I’ll definitely buy this product again.
3. SPOT TREATMENT
LA ROCHE-POSAY Effaclar Duo Acne Spot Treatment
The product has 5.5% micronized benzoyl peroxide that penetrates into the pores to destroy acne-causing bacteria. It also contains 0.4% lipo hydroxy acid (LHA), a derivative of salicylic acid which helps exfoliate the skin.
I love the formulation because it is not as drying or irritating compared to other drugstore spot treatment products. And, it does a great job of clearing up my pimple quickly.
4. MOISTURIZER
OLIVARRIER Comfort Barrier Cream
Another K-beauty favorite. I’m very picky when it comes to moisturizers because the wrong one can exacerbate acne breakouts. This cream doesn’t contain any fragrance, essential oil, or alcohol that could irritate the skin. It is packed with nourishing ingredients such as squalene, cholesterol, fatty acids, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides.
I love the non-greasy formula that soaks right into the skin. It is not too heavy, but it provides the right amount of moisture that my skin needs to stay healthy and happy this winter.
5. SUNSCREEN
DR. SAM”S Flawless Daily Sunscreen SPF 50
What’s not to love?
Non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, cosmetically elegant, broad-spectrum sunscreen that doesn’t leave a white cast. This product checks off EVERYTHING I wish for from sunscreen.
The key ingredients are 11.8% Zinc Oxide and 7% Octinoxate which protects the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. It is also formulated with shea butter to boost skin moisture and 5% niacinamide to provide a myriad of skincare benefits (antioxidants, calms inflammation, brightens skin, curbs oil production, strengthens the skin barrier, etc.).
A serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen in one. This product is heaven-sent!
Have you tried any of these products? What are some of your 2021 skincare favorites? Please share in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.
Thank you so much for reading. May this coming year bring you lots of love, laughter, and joy.
Cheers to a great 2022!

My combination skin really loves the moisturizer. It’s non-greasy and can be used morning and night. The sunscreen simplified my am skincare routine into 3-Steps (Cleanser, Vit C, Sunscreen).

I first heard of this spot treatment from Dr. Dray, a dermatologist that I follow on YouTube. So glad I tried it, it’s an effective over-the-counter product.

It is tough to narrow down a big list of favorites into just a few key products, so I enjoyed reading your list! It was not what I was expecting, which was perfect, and I am loving the sounds of the spot treatment and sunscreen.
Thank you for sharing. 🙂

I’ve decided to try skincare products outside the K-beauty world. And, I’ve heard good reviews about the spot treatment from various dermatologists. The sunscreen is from Dr. Sam Bunting’s (London-based dermatologist) skincare line. It’s my go-to sunscreen right now.

Oh gosh, I have a hard time justifying $166 for a serum! I struggle with anything over $40 for one. I’m also trying to get into K-beauty myself since the products are top notch.

Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation is one of my biggest skin issues, so I’ve been trying anything that works. Hopefully, I’ll find a much cheaper dupe of this Vitamin C serum.

I love this! I know that I should prioritize skin care but I’m soo lazy when it comes to this. But I do have one go-to product I actually use every night: the BHA peeling from Paula’s Choice. Love that brand, big recommendation!

Love that you added some of the ingredients for the Comfort Barrier Cream. Cholesterol, fatty acids, and hyaluronic acid? Sign me up! I’ve been using the Uriage Insulating Barrier Repair cream for a while now and it has helped significantly with dry patches on the skin when I pair it with a hydrating hyaluronic acid serum. Looks like the Comfort Barrier Cream may be an all-in-one sort of thing. May have to try it!

The sunscreen is def one of my faves. This is one product that I’ll keep on buying. I agree that the Vit C serum is so expensive, I love the results, but I’m also looking for less expensive options.

I have never used any of these products since they are not easily available in India. I have however used the DHC double cleansing duo and Belif Aqua Bomb Gel and am in love with both. Would love to read more on Korean and Japanese brands.
