The Destination
My friends Jen and Ehlly planned this trip to Boothbay Harbor. It was supposed to be a “girl’s trip,” but they invited my hubby to join when they learned that just like me, he’d never been to Maine. I’ve always wanted to visit this beautiful state – known for its coastline, lighthouses, and fresh lobsters.
I am not really into seafood, but my friends and hubby love lobsters. So, the first thing on our itinerary was to go to the Cabbage Island Clambakes. As soon as we arrived at Boothbay Harbor, we ran to Pier 6 and boarded the boat to Cabbage Island.
We traveled for almost 51/2 hours from NY for this traditional Downeast clambake and I’m glad that it did not disappoint. We enjoyed the fish chowder, lobsters, clams, corn, potato, and blueberry cake. The overall experience was super fun – boat ride, island tour, and delicious meal. After spending a few hours on the island, we returned to Boothbay Harbor to explore one of the prettiest coastal towns in Maine.
The Journey
We heard about the beautiful beaches of Maine. So, on our way back to New York, we decided to stop by Wells Beach and Ogunquit Beach. It was so nice to walk on the soft sand and watch the waves crash on the shoreline. There are also a lot of nearby eateries and shops. These seaside towns are the ideal stopover for some clam chowder, lobster rolls, and ice cream.

This road trip was one of the best trips I’ve ever had!
Yes… the destination was awesome, but it was the memories we created together on this journey that made it memorable.

Maine sounds beautiful, hopefully your orginal plans didn’t change too much when your husband joined the girl’s trip. The way Maine is discriped sounds a lot like St Augustine, Florida to be honest. Cabbage Island and Boothbay Harbor both look really beautiful.
I don’t go on many road trips, and when I do they aren’t very memorable, I’m usually going a state over to visit my mother and little sisters, and I always end up stressed at the end of trip. The one I remember the most is the year before the sixth grade, my dad divorced evil stepmother, and took us to Six Flags with a lot of my and twin’s maternal family there, and on the way there and back twin and I sang/screamed the lyrics to the Hanson & Spice Girls.

A good playlist is a must for any road trip. My friends and I were also singing our hearts out. My hubby was very patient with us. He became our official photographer and videographer. Everything work out well because though we have a set destination, we are also open to seeing new places along the way.

Maine looks amazing! I’ve never been but my partner and I have it on our list. Although I love lobster and he doesn’t I need to try it there! Gimme all the shellfish!

Definitely check out the Cabbage Island Clambake. I’m not really into seafood, but I enjoyed this unique Maine experience. Your partner can also opt for roasted chicken instead of lobsters.

Everything about this road trip looks fab. Living in the UK, I have yet to visit anywhere in the USA but this place looks great. Cabbage Island looks absolutely awesome. Your husband’s images and video transported me to Maine, so he did an excellent job! I love the fact that there is so much history combined with quaint, modern attractions. And, of course, there’s nothing better than feeling sand between your toes as you watch waves crash onto a beach.
